Your Housing Group (YHG) has made two internal promotions to its senior team; Jo Hough has been promoted to the new role of Director of Human Resources (HR), and Aaron Hammersley has been promoted to Interim Director of Housing & Customer Service.

Jo joined YHG in 2022 as Head of HR and Learning & Development, and in that time has been key to the delivery of the People Strategy, and designing ‘The YHG Way’ with colleagues; our values-based behavioural framework.

Jo Hough, said, “I am excited to be joining the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at Your Housing Group and delighted to be able to continue to drive forward the People agenda. We launched the new People Strategy last year, and have already delivered some great achievements.

“There is a great HR and People Team here at #TeamYHG, and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with them, the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), SLT and our colleagues to build on the successes we have achieved to date!”

Commenting on Jo’s promotion, Clare Oakley, Executive Director of Corporate Services at Your Housing Group, says, “I’m delighted that Jo will be joining our Senior Leadership Team and continuing to deliver our People Strategy. At YHG we are passionate about housing and investing in people, and since joining YHG Jo has been a real asset and has brought a change in our approach to People and Culture.

Aaron Hammersley’s promotion to Interim Director of Housing & Customer Service comes following Paula Marshall’s promotion earlier this year.

Aaron has been with YHG since June 2010, where he joined as Non-Social Housing Manager, prior to the merger and the formation of Your Housing Group in 2012. He was then promoted to Head of Sales and Lettings in January 2019, before taking on the role of Head of Housing in December 2020.

In 2018-19 Aaron successfully gained a place on YHG’s high potential senior development programme, LEAD (Leadership Exploration and Development) and is now part of YHG’s LEAD Alumni, where he continues to support and mentor others.

Aaron said, “I am delighted to be taking on this interim role. I look forward to working alongside a team of brilliant customer-focused colleagues across the whole Housing & Customer Service Directorate as we strive forward in continually improving the customer experience and standards of service for all our customers and communities.”

Commenting on Aaron’s promotion Paula Marshall, YHG’s newly appointed Executive Director of Housing & Customer Service (EDHC), said,“ We are delighted to reward Aaron for his commitment, professionalism, and hard work, by offering him the next step in his career. Aaron will be a fantastic appointment and addition to the senior leadership team.

“He has demonstrated his commitment to our customers during his time at YHG and I know he will continue to display his passion for housing, and ensure we achieve our shared goal of making sure that more people have a safe place to call home.

“His dedication to both colleagues and customers is what makes Aaron the right person for the job.

These two appointments are a positive step in continuing to lead the organisation to success, deliver on the People Strategy, and continue building a workforce and culture that is passionate about housing, and together can ensure that more people have a safe place to call home.
