Yorkshire Housing secure £74mn funding deal to build new homes

Yorkshire Housing is set to build almost 400 homes thanks to a new £74mn deal secured under the Affordable Homes Guarantee Scheme (AHGS).

The AHGS is a £3bn government-backed lending scheme which aims to help registered housing providers build more affordable homes by providing longer-term, lower-cost, fixed rate loans.

Yorkshire Housing has plans to deliver 8,000 new homes and this latest deal will enable them to build around 380 homes over the next few years.

ARA Venn, a leading investment manager, manages the AHGS on behalf of the government and was responsible for the deal with Yorkshire Housing.

Rob Parkes, Director of finance at Yorkshire Housing, said: “With thousands of families on housing waiting lists and the cost-of-living still high, it’s more important than ever to provide affordable homes across Yorkshire. This new long-term funding will help us to build around 380 quality new homes, making it possible for more people to have a place they’re proud to call home.”
