Together Housing welcomed local stakeholders and residents to mark the launch of a new investment project in North Halifax.

As a prominent social housing provider in North England, the Group spoke to residents who have called for better use of space in their community during the Place Shaping launch across two more areas in the town.

Ovenden Green and Brow Bottom, in Calderdale, are the latest communities managed by Together Housing, to benefit from investment works as part of the ‘Place Shaping’ project.

Brow Bottom residents came together to meet with Together Housing and their partner, Place Capital Group, on Tuesday with Ovenden Green residents to give their views on Thursday on what they’d like to see in their neighbourhoods.

Speaking about what they felt would mean the area remained a great place to live into the future, they told staff that existing green space could be utilised for building, play parks, dog walking areas or wildflower meadows, but that a priority was a plan to put it to use.

As part of the association’s commitment to providing sustainable communities, Place Shaping, which is being delivered in partnership with place design experts Place Capital Group, explores ways to invest in the entire make-up of an estate, not just the homes.

Much of this work is steered by residents who share their ideas through consultations and public events hosted by the partnering organisations.

To ensure every resident has the opportunity to have their say, Together Housing and Place Capital Group have widened the opportunities to hear resident feedback by launching digital consultations on the platform, Commonplace.

The consultation involves workshops and drop-ins but is also being carried out online thanks to a partnership between Place Capital Group and online consultation tool Common Place.

Ovenden Green residents can have their say at https://ovendengreen.commonplace.is while the Brow Bottom community should head to https://browbottom.commonplace.is.

Caroline Grosvenor, Group Director for Place Shaping at Together Housing said: “We’re thrilled to be working with residents in Ovenden Green and Brow Bottom to hear how we can best invest in their communities. Place Shaping means we can work with the community to explore how our investment in their area can really work for them. Residents have already given us some interesting thought in the first of many consultations and we’re eager to keep these conversations going into the future.”

The work compliments existing investment work in Field Lane, Rastrick and other sites in Lancashire.
