A second supported living scheme for young adults with learning difficulties has opened in Weymouth, providing specialist accommodation and support to help residents develop skills for independent living.
The three-bedroom property on Littlemoor Road has been delivered through a partnership between Advance Housing and Support, Dorset Council and Care Dorset, following the launch of a similar service on Dorchester Road in 2024.
The new scheme is aimed at people aged 18 to 25 with mild to moderate support needs. It provides a transitional home where residents can develop practical skills and confidence before moving into longer-term accommodation.
Supported housing provides route to independence
The fully furnished property includes shared kitchen and living areas, with each resident having an ensuite facility.

Residents live under a licence agreement, allowing them to move into permanent accommodation when they are ready to take the next step.
Care Dorset provides 24-hour support, with staff helping residents develop skills including budgeting, cooking, cleaning and managing a home. Residents are also supported to build relationships and participate in their local community.
The Littlemoor Road scheme follows the first supported living service delivered through the partnership at Dorchester Road, which opened in Weymouth in 2024.
Graeme Jackson, Head of Investment and Development at Advance, said: “Littlemoor Road will support customers to take positive steps towards greater independence and we’re proud to be working alongside Dorset Council and Care Dorset to make that happen.
“This scheme will provide young people with a safe, supportive home where they can learn practical life skills, become active members of the local community and prepare for the next stage of their lives.

“We’ve already seen the positive impact this type of accommodation can have through our first scheme of this kind in Weymouth. Seeing young people grow in confidence, develop new skills and move closer towards independent living demonstrates the difference these services can make. We’re proud of creating more opportunities for local people to thrive and look forward to welcoming customers into their new home.”
Cllr Steve Robinson, portfolio holder for Adult Social Care, said: “We are delighted to bring forward a second scheme, following the success of the Supported-Living service at Dorchester Road, also in Weymouth.
“We are pleased that the experienced staff from Care Dorset will be supporting young people to develop their own skills and interests and promoting young people to become a part of their local community whilst learning to become more independent.”
The property forms part of Advance’s wider programme of specialist housing and support for people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
The organisation has worked with local authorities and care providers for more than 50 years to provide housing and support services.
Customers are expected to move into the Littlemoor Road property over the summer.
