The free weekly drop-in sessions run by YHG, support attendees with all aspects of job searches and applying for jobs including writing and updating CVs, interview preparation and online applications.
Designed to support their residents as well as the local community, these weekly sessions have made a significant impact upon the employment prospects of those involved, whether that is gaining access to education and training, or finding a job.
The Work Clubs are open to anyone who needs support, whether they are recently unemployed or have experienced long-term unemployment. Each week, residents and community members can access essential services and resources to help them on their journey:
CV Support: Crafting an effective CV is often the first step towards securing employment, and the club helps individuals present their skills and experiences in the best possible light.
Job Applications: Navigating the job application process can be daunting, but the team provides guidance to make it more accessible and efficient.
Interview Tips: Preparing for interviews is a vital aspect of the job-seeking process, and the work club offers valuable insights to boost confidence and performance during interviews.
The support offered extends beyond advice on job-seeking; the work club goes the extra mile by providing various training courses. These courses include basic IT skills, Maths and English, and Food Hygiene training, helping individuals to gain new skills and expand their employment opportunities.
The commitment and dedication of the Work Club team, led by Louise Harley and supported by #TeamYHG, has resulted in significant achievements, with an impressive 16 residents having secured sustainable employment since April.
Louise Harley, Community Regeneration Officer for Your Housing Group, said “anyone who has ever been looking for work knows how hard it can be sometimes, and for many of the people that attend our clubs they just need a little support and guidance to help get them on their way. We care about them all and recognise that they all have the ability in them, so we are just here to help them achieve their goals. Treating people with respect and providing honest and reliable advice to those who attend every week means we can watch on with great pride as they work hard towards securing employment. Their determination is truly amazing.”
