Raven Renewables has entered into contract with AD Construction Group to deliver net zero carbon retrofit measures to a number of housing association homes.

Raven Renewables, which has a mission to reduce the amount of carbon emitted from buildings, will install PV panels and battery storage units to 26 homes primarily across Surrey. It will work in partnership with principal contractor AD Construction on the project, who will complete insulation works to the properties

The energy-efficiency installations form part of a wider suite of measures being contracted out by Raven Housing Trust, using funding received as part of Reigate & Banstead Borough Council’s bid to the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Wave 1.

The installation of the photovoltaic panels and battery storage units, alongside other works being carried out, which has a total contract value of £235,000, is due to be complete by the end of March. The measures could save customers several hundred pounds per year and will bring another client closer to their goal of achieving net zero homes. Raven Housing Trust has also completed two brand-new net zero developments.

“The quality of housing association homes is something that’s been hitting the headlines a lot lately so it’s great to be involved in a positive addition to older homes that will benefit the residents, future-proof the homes for Raven Housing Trust, and have a positive impact on the environment too.

“We hope to work with more of those organisations receiving grant funding in Wave 2 of the SHDF, continuing to work towards the country’s goal of a carbon neutral economy by 2050.”

Mark Gardiner, Business Development Manager for Raven Renewables

“AD are delighted to be working with Raven Housing Trust to help improve a portion of their housing stock through introducing an array of retrofit measures, such as cavity wall insulation, triple glazing, solar PV and air source heat pumps to name a few.

“As a business we are highly focused on the reduction of carbon emissions and are keen to improve tenants living standards across all projects that we are involved in.

“The fact that AD can assist Raven Housing Trust in helping some of their tenants during the current energy crisis is very rewarding for everyone involved and we are hoping that this will be the start of a long and successful relationship for all parties moving forward.”

Louis Allwright, Contracts Manager at AD Construction Group

“We are excited to see the work being completed to these homes as part of our programme of retrofitting homes, bringing them up to modern energy-efficient standards, and contributing to our journey to net zero. Raven Renewables and AD Construction Group are both experts in this field, so we are in good hands.”
