The Surrey-based renewables specialist is installing Allume Energy’s SolShare, system, benefitting the development’s 28 flats.
Rather than sharing a communal system across the scheme, each block will have its own inverter and SolShare system which will provide power to the individual homes, maximising benefits for residents.
The uniqueness of this hardware solution makes it a go-to technology to reduce the energy bills and increase the SAP / EPC score of flats across the UK.
It is the latest project that the company is undertaking with Raven Housing Trust, which owns the flats, and will help the Redhill-based affordable housing provider to achieve its net zero carbon targets while supporting residents during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
The installation is expected to take between four and six weeks to complete meaning residents will benefit from the measures this winter
Mark Gardiner, Business Development Manager at Raven Renewables, said: “This is an exciting project for Raven Renewables and will be the first SolShare installation we will undertake since becoming an approved installer of the state-of-the-art technology. Enabling individual flats to access solar energy has long been a challenge which is why this system is a real game changer for the affordable housing sector, benefitting both residents and the environment.
“As a forward-thinking renewable energy specialist, we are committed to supporting affordable housing providers, local councils, and businesses to achieve their goals as they journey towards net zero carbon.”
Anthony Day, Sustainability Manager at Raven Housing Trust, added: “As part of our commitment to healthy, more energy efficient homes we are updating and improving our housing portfolio. These measures are also helping us to meet our net zero carbon targets.
“The customer sits at the heart of everything we do at Raven Housing Trust. The residents of Shire Court will be able to access cheaper, greener electricity almost immediately. Raven Housing Trust is very pleased to be working with Raven Renewables to help deliver these cost savings to our customers at a time of rising energy prices and cost of living pressures.”
Jack Taylor, General Manager at Allume Energy, commented: “We’re delighted to support Raven Renewables and Raven Housing Trust in their commitment to reaching their decarbonisation goals.
“SolShare stands as a key component in reaching this goal by unlocking the myriad of benefits of solar PV to apartments. The ability to add five to 15 SAP points to each flat creates a simple and affordable method of increasing EPC ratings and achieving sustainability targets.
“Our ongoing mission revolves around providing a simple solution in the elimination of carbon emissions, while at the same time ensuring crucial cost savings on energy bills for customers.”
