Plentific Launches Roadmap to Readiness for Awaab’s Law Phase Two

On the back of discussing key challenges faced by the sector at the Housing Community Summit, technology leader Plentific is launching its latest Guide to support housing providers to prepare for Phase 2 of Awaab’s Law.

Plentific’s Roadmap to Readiness provides a practical framework for social landlords to assess the organisational capabilities that underpin successful implementation, helping providers to identify strengths, address potential gaps and build capacity and confidence ahead of the implementation of Phase 2 on November 30th.

The extent and complexity of the hazards included in Awaab’s Law Phase 2 are set to place significantly greater operational demands on social housing providers, who will need to consider whether their organisations as a whole are ready to respond to a much wider range of hazards, including excess cold and heat, fire risk, electrical hazards, falls and structural collapse.

With Phase 2, compliance is due to become less about case specific repair processes and more about organisational capability, when the identification, response and resolution of cases extends across departments, systems, contractors and people.

This practical Guide, which explores McKinsey’s 7S Framework for organisational change, is designed to help social landlords with a roadmap to review all aspects of their organisation for readiness for Phase 2 across seven critical aspects, to identify areas of vulnerability and prioritise improvements before the legislation comes into force.

Applied to Awaab’s Law Phase 2, McKinsey’s 7S Framework provides a practical lens through which housing providers can evaluate whether the organisation is equipped to deliver compliance consistently and at scale.

Plentific’s Guide suggests organisational readiness will include learning lessons from Phase 1, ensuring an outcome-focused triage model which connects data and automates workflows is in place to prioritise cases.

Cem Savas, CEO of Plentific, said:

“The introduction of Awaab’s Law marked an important step forward for the social housing sector, as it reinforced what has always been true: providing safe, decent homes is one of our most fundamental responsibilities.

“As we move towards the implementation of Phase 2, however, the challenge changes quite profoundly. Success will depend not only on responding within prescribed timescales, but on ensuring that leadership, governance, people, processes, systems and delivery partners work together consistently to achieve the right outcome for every resident.

“The sector’s greatest challenges will most likely emerge where responsibilities, information and decision-making intersect across the organisation. Meeting the expectations of Phase 2 will require providers to think beyond individual departments and consider how effectively the organisation operates as a whole.”
