Futures embraces the season of giving

Futures Housing Group has donated items to the community after recently completing refurbishments of its offices.

The housing association has offices, depots and touchdown points spread across the East Midlands and after the opening of its new head office in Castle Donington in November 2021, it’s been making sure all its sites are up-to-date and ready for colleagues to do their best work.

Futures’ main focus this year has been its depot in Leabrooks, Ripley, and supported living schemes in Rushden, Peterborough and Northampton. While the work has varied from full redevelopment to reconfiguring and refurbishing, one thing has been constant – Futures’ goal to create as little waste as possible, and to continue giving back to local communities by recycling and reusing things the organisation no longer needs.

In its northern region, Futures contacted charity Salcare to see if it could use any no-longer-needed furnishings. Salcare were happy to find homes for lots of pieces, including chairs and desks, a fridge freezer, two microwaves and a water boiler!

Jacqui Bell, Director of Services at Salcare said: “We’re really thankful for Futures’ donation. These furniture items will be used to support families in need in our local community. Many of our clients come to us with nothing and are in desperate need. With Futures’ support we can help them build their new lives.”

Futures also gave furniture to residents in its supported living schemes, including armchairs for their rooms and desks and tables and cupboards for the communal areas.

Futures is proud to be supporting its customers and communities and looking after the planet, all while looking after colleagues and giving them a great place to work. Futures is excited to continue its sustainability efforts and take the season of giving all the way into 2024 and beyond.
