The money was raised through a variety of events organised by employees over the past year, and the amount was then matched pound for pound by Yorkshire Housing, bringing the total to an impressive £30,000.

The suggestion to support Yorkshire Air Ambulance was from a former colleague who personally experienced the charity’s crucial work. His friend had a fall while they were on a walk in the Dales together, suffering spinal injuries. Yorkshire Air Ambulance came to their rescue and provided life-saving care.

Nick Atkin, Chief Executive Yorkshire Housing, said: “I’m over the moon that we’ve been able to reach our fundraising target all thanks to the amazing efforts of our colleagues.

“From three marathons in two days right through to a skydive challenge and series of bake sales and raffles – they did it all and I’m super proud of what we’ve achieved.

“The money is going to an incredible life-saving Yorkshire charity and I’m so glad the money we’ve raised will support them with their life-saving care.”

Vickie Bowden, Regional Fundraising Manager (West and South Yorkshire) for Yorkshire Air Ambulance said: “We are incredibly grateful to Yorkshire Housing and their colleagues for their outstanding support and fundraising efforts in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Thanks to their commitment and generosity, we can continue providing critical care and rapid response to those who need it most across Yorkshire.

“On behalf of everyone at Yorkshire Air Ambulance, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Yorkshire Housing and all those who contributed to this fantastic achievement”.

This charity is funded entirely by donations from the public and needs £19,000 every single day to keep both of their air ambulance helicopters maintained and in the air.

Each year, Yorkshire Housing employees vote for their charity of the year from a list of nominated  causes. Events and challenges are then planned in order to reach their annual fundraising target. The cash raised each year makes such a huge difference in local communities at the same time uniting  employees behind inspiring causes.
