It’s just six weeks to go until Housing Executive: Future Foundations takes place in Bolton on October 6th, and the social housing sector comes together for a day of collaboration and discussion looking to break down some of the most relevant issues to the sector today. You can secure your tickets for Future Foundations here, with tickets FREE for public sector organisations.
You can find our full agenda here, complete with our full list of speakers and the panels taking place throughout the course of the day. The conference will also be hosting the Housing Executive exhibition hall, boasting a comprehensive list of exhibitors showcasing their housing solutions that can help connect providers with partners to facilitate real progress.
The conference will be broken down into three unique zones:
Zone One: Governance & Resilience
Zone one will delve into the realities of the sector today, and cultivate discussion around the ensuring the strength of social housing moving forwards. It’s no secret that the sector and the organisations that keep it moving are under growing pressure today from a number of angles, pressure that in all likelihood won’t subside in the coming years. Zone one will discuss a number of issues that providers will need to navigate moving forwards, including the implementation of Awaab’s Law phase two, the need for innovative finances and how providers can ensure social value is delivered despite stretched resources.
Panel two in zone one will be discussing the particularly existential subject in the housing sector of the UK’s ageing population. With the UK’s population living longer than ever before, a significant demographic shift is taking place that means by 2072 over 27% of the population could be aged 65 and over. Our elderly population have entirely unique needs when it comes to housing in order to ensure a safe, happy life, and without action being taken today the housing sector risks finding itself inadequate to care for the surging demographic shifts of the population.

Zone Two: Tech, Data & Innovation
The second zone of talks taking place at Housing Executive: Future Foundations will discuss the digital and technological side of social housing, curated by Stewart Davison and the Proptech Peer Group. Technology is thoroughly intertwined with the future of the sector, and data analytics and insight is rapidly emerging as a key cornerstone to ensuring long-term efficiency. Zone two will feature speakers from across the proptech and social housing worlds, discussing the elements needed to create meaningful partnerships between housing providers and the tech providers that can take their services to the next level.
Discussions in zone two will cover a number of topics including the often overlooked advantage of SME partners as oppose to larger partners, the importance of the sector moving the past the all-too familiar “pilot paralysis” phenomenon, and how technology can be used to cultivate human connection rather than replace it.
Zone Three: People, Homes & Communities
The third zone at Future Foundations will focus on the human elements of the sector, and how housing providers can go beyond simply providing bricks and mortar and really have a positive impact on the lives of their residents. Zone three will discuss issues relevant to the core mission of the social housing sector, such as how providers can cultivate thriving communities amidst rising division in the UK, why prevention must be integral to the UK’s homelessness strategy moving forwards, and how providers can rebuild trust with their residents.
Housing Executive: Future Foundations will be followed by the second year of the Housing Executive Awards, with a number of finalists competing to see who takes home one of the number of awards categories available.
